Now that I'm on my third baby I do not use a nursing cover when breastfeeding in public. It's funny because when I had my first baby I was uncomfortable nursing uncovered, and when I used a nursing cover I felt like I was drawing attention to myself and everyone around knew what I was doing under there. I've gotten over that for sure. I attribute it to being a first time mom unfamiliar with breastfeeding and not fully confident in my body.
Somewhere between my first and third baby I became completely comfortable nursing in public and it's liberating. That said, I still like to cover the top part of my breast a bit with a blanket or scarf when nursing. I do not cover my baby though. I haven't used a typical nursing cover in years but when I was working on a different sponsored post for a Boppy pillow I received the Boppy Infinity Nursing Scarf as well. Well I have to say I actually love this scarf! It is nothing like a typical nursing cover in that it is soft, lightweight, there are no structured stiff pieces and of course it looks like a stylish scarf. I wear it like a scarf and when nursing I can pull it down just slightly to cover my neck and chest but I leave my baby uncovered. I know this is not exactly how it designed to be used but it works for me. Plus I love infinity scarves and I think it makes a pretty nice one.
Here is some information about the scarf from Boppy:
- Wear the Boppy Infinity Nursing Scarf as a fashionable accessory and then unwrap it to provide full coverage for discreet breastfeeding.
- The Boppy Infinity Nursing Scarf has a patent-pending design featuring a sheer panel so you can easily view baby while nursing.
- An adjustable strap means the scarf fits and covers perfectly when it's time to nurse.
- The scarf is made of lightweight, ultra-soft modal fabric.
- Machine washable for easy cleaning.

I do not cover my baby up so I cannot say for sure how well it works for complete coverage compared to a typical nursing cover. This scarf works amazingly well for me since I can wear it, forget about it, and use it as needed when I want a tiny bit of coverage.
