It’s hard to believe but I have been pregnant, breastfeeding, or both for almost six years straight. Wow! I got pregnant with my first daughter in 2011, and I was nursing her when I became pregnant with my second baby. I had a brief break from breastfeeding while pregnant with him, but was still nursing him when I was pregnant with my third. The whole time. I tandem nursed for awhile, and now I am breastfeeding my third and final baby.
I can say for sure that pregnancy and breastfeeding has been a wonderful experience, but I am ready to focus on myself and my health now. While I do hope to continue breastfeeding my last baby as long as possible, I am also looking forward. After years of putting myself on the back burner I am working to get healthy. I also suffered a pelvic injury after the birth of my third and now mostly recovered and working on building my strength. It has been a slow process but I finally feel like I have the time and tools to take care of myself. As I have learned self care is not selfish.
HERE IS WHAT I AM DOING TO TAKE CARE OF MYSELF AFTER THREE BABIES IN FIVE YEARS:
Working out. Yes, I tried this last summer when I was barely eight weeks postpartum and a pelvic injury became worse and set me back months. Now I have found a new form of exercise I love and is keeping me injury free. I will write more about my love for it in a future post.
Drinking tons of water, eating better, and cutting back big time on diet soda. I am trying to replace diet soda with water. I have succeeded in not buying it and bringing it home anymore but I do still get one occasionally while out. I don’t need to explain why drinking water is healthy so I trying to do more of it.
Using a fitness tracker. I love my fitness tracker for motivating myself to be active and keeping track of calories. I don’t diet since I am breastfeeding, but I make sure my ratios of food and activity are decent and I like seeing how much sleep I am getting (or not getting with a baby ha).
Taking a probiotic every day. While I have taken probiotics to help my immune system while pregnant and nursing I admit I have not always understood them, and I was overwhelmed with all the choices. I had heard they help when taking antibiotics to promote a strong immune system. I didn’t realize their benefits beyond this until I learned more about having a healthy gut and beneficial bacteria. As I have learned we all have a microbiome in our bodies full of bacteria called probiotics, which help us absorb vitamins and nutrients, helps our immune system, keeps our digestive system working well, and many more benefits.
As a breastfeeding mom to three I have found Hyperbiotics available at Target to be an incredible tool in my claim to take back my health and get strong.
Hyperbiotics are a step above the rest because they are extremely effective and affordable. Not all probiotics work well, some need to be kept cold and may no longer be viable before you even take it. Hyperbiotics guarantees their formulas viability for 18 months and refrigeration is not needed. They also survive in our stomach with a time released formula. Hyperbiotics formulas are vegetarian, non-GMO, and lactose, gluten, and sugar free. There is no soy, iron, nuts, artificial flavors, artificial colors, or preservatives. This is important to me because I do not want to add unnecessary items into my diet.
Hyperbiotics makes several formulas including ones for our children, but I take Pro-Moms because it is specifically tailored for pregnant and breastfeeding moms.
WHAT MAKES A PROBIOTIC FOR PREGNANT AND NURSING MOMS EVEN BETTER? HERE ARE A FEW OF THE REASONS I LOVE HYPERBIOTICS PRO-MOMS:
Encourages full nutrient absorption. This means we retain more vitamins from the food we eat.
Helps keep our immune system healthy. As any pregnant mama knows we get sick so much more easily while pregnant.
Helps produce B vitamins and contains natural folate. Both of these are beneficial nutrients while pregnant and breastfeeding.
Keeps our digestive system regular which can be an issue while pregnant.
Easy on the stomach while pregnant and doesn’t require refrigeration.
In addition to keeping ourselves healthy while pregnant Hyperbiotics continue to help us and our babies while breastfeeding. A baby gets its first dose of probiotics from us in the womb, during delivery going through the birth canal, and while breastfeeding and having lots of skin to skin contact. It’s amazing to think about. Now I am still nursing my baby and I know she is getting probiotics via my milk.
So, in my quest to take care of myself, get healthy, and incorporate self care I am helping my baby as well. The benefits to taking Hyperbiotics probiotics are numerous for us and our little ones. If you would like to experience these benefits as well you can #followyourgut to Target and find them there. And, if you have any questions at all visit Hyperbiotics.com to learn more.
