The recommendations below are some of the universally recommended best breastfeeding books. I personally have read The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding and Breastfeeding, A Parent's Guide. The first one is a great book that really covers every aspect of breastfeeding and what to expect along the way. The second one is an easy to read guide that is a great for referencing quickly. I received that one in the breastfeeding class I took at the hospital and have referred to it many times.
I also included two books here by Dr. Harvey Karp. The Happiest Baby on the Block and The Happiest Baby Guide to Great Sleep. Of all the sleep related books out there I found these to be very helpful and encouraging to breastfeeding mothers. If you are not interested in sleep training or cry it out techniques these books have some great info. When our first baby was born The Happiest Baby on the Block was the only book that really helped me calm my baby and get some sleep. I highly recommend it.
Please let me know if you have any questions about any of these books.
Updated November 2017!
I have recently come across an online series of parental guides in the form of e-books related to various parenting subjects written by Susan Urban. The website to find these is called Parental Love.
There is an e-book on breastfeeding I have reviewed. It is full of helpful information such as the benefits of breastfeeding, preparing to breastfeed, different positions, and common issues which can occur. This is a great guide for anyone looking for breastfeeding information in a condensed and easy to read format.
