Just in Time for Summer, Nursing Friendly Bathing Suits

I update this post every spring with any new swimsuits and well loved ones as well.

As a pregnant mom to be or a new mom, looking for a bathing suit is probably low on your list of priorities.

When I was pregnant with my first baby I ended up buying myself an oversized swimsuit and continued using this once she was born .

I always pulled my breast out of the top of my suit to breastfeed, and while that does work fine, it can be kind of a pain to pull wet and sweaty skin out of the wet bathing suit top.

Despite the stickiness, this is how I did it for the first summer after my first daughter was born.

When my second baby came along I had already discovered my favorite nursing friendly clothing company Figure 8 Moms. I was thrilled to discover they carry maternity and nursing friendly bathing suits that can be used all through pregnancy, breastfeeding, and beyond.

Just in time for summer, nursing friendly bathing suits!

Breastfeeding Friendly Swimsuits

Boob Designs Fast Food Tankini

I ordered this one shortly after my son was born. It is a tankini style that you can use for maternity and beyond.

While it works during pregnancy, it definitely does not feel too large for the postpartum period.

The top has adjustable shoulder straps that can also be used in a halter style or removed.

The center of the top has ruching and a drawstring so you can pull it as tight as needed and adjust to your changing size.

The Boob Designs brand allows easy access for nursing by having two layers over the breast area, one that pulls up, and the other that pulls down.

What I love about this suit is how forgiving it is and having that top layer over the chest to make breastfeeding access easy.

The top is not underwire, and if you have a large chest it may not feel as supportive as something with underwire. I found the two layers plus drawstring to be enough support.

Sizing is XS 0-2, S 4-6, M 8, L 10-12, XL 14.

It seemed to run a little large for me, but I did get it a couple of months postpartum so that may be why. I think this would work great as a maternity suit and for however long it is needed during breastfeeding.

This is extremely similar to the Boob Designs tankini above, but it is a one piece.

This swimsuit also has the adjustable and removable shoulder straps.

It features ruching on the sides and the drawstring under the chest area to adjust as tightly as needed. It has their signature design for nursing that I described above.

Sizing is XS 0-2, S 4-6, M 8, L 10-12, XL 14. It comes in black and a maroon color.

Rosewater by Cake Nursing Tankini

I have not personally tried this one but if I was pregnant or just starting my nursing journey I probably would!

From the pictures and reviews I have read this suit looks amazing. It has a light flexible underwire under the chest (which I usually prefer) so it's great for anyone who needs that extra support.

It has removable foam cups, a racer back, UPF 50+ UV protection and drawstring sides for height adjustment.

I love the looks of this suit which comes in purple, black, or a black and print design. The tops clip down for easy breastfeeding access and this suit can be used while pregnant and nursing.

I also learned that it is produced by an Oeko-tex 100 certified company, which means it has been tested for harmful substances. That's always nice to know when it is something that will be near your baby.

There is a sizing chart on the website to help you get the right fit.

The Fast Food Maternity & Nursing Swimsuit with SPF 50+ Sun Protection

This swimsuit can transition from pregnancy to breastfeeding. It has a flexible shape which will work for either.

This suit is made from a sustainable material of ECONYL. It is also Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX® Certified: Fabric free from harmful substances.

This design is simple and clean with adjustable shoulder straps. It’s incredibly easy to breastfeed in this suit by lifting up the piece of fabric over the breast. You can breastfeed as discretely as you like with this one.

The swimsuit is fast drying and has an SPF of 50+. Having a fast drying suit is such a nice feature when breastfeeding. I love the simplicity and ease of use of this new nursing swimsuit.

This Boob Design swimsuit comes in black and a color called magnet which looks a like a purplish grey color. It comes in sizes S - XL.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this Boob Design swimsuit at all!

These are just a few of my favorite nursing swimsuits. While I don't believe you necessarily need a special swimsuit to breastfeed, it can make life easier.

Figure8Moms has many additional maternity and nursing bathing suits on their site including more one pieces and tankini styles.

They also have free shipping, free returns and no sales tax. Their customer service is pretty great too. You can check it all out here.

Did you prefer the Boob one-piece or tankini? I am buying for nursing post-partum and want to look as on un-frumpy as possible!

I bought the tankini but I am sure they are both nice. I don't have experience with their one piece though!
