I received a baby bundle from Brentwood Home to try out. All opinions are my own.
I recently became familiar with Brentwood Home, a company based out of California that makes mattresses as well as pillows, bedding, baby items, even pet beds which are shipped right to you. Brentwood Home’s products are organic, nontoxic, and made with natural materials based on the strictest California environmental policies. So, you know what you’re buying is safe, which is extremely important not only for our own health but especially when shopping for a baby. Their items are also handmade right here in California. While all of their products look amazing I was most interested in the baby products, of course!
I consider myself a pro when it comes to buying baby mattresses. When I was pregnant with my first baby I did tons of research on crib mattresses. I wanted something safe for her to sleep on and I wanted it to be high quality, easy to clean for middle of the night messes, and easy for me to use. It’s also important that a crib mattress for an infant is firm. Much firmer than we are used to or would want to sleep on. I also prefer that they do not have chemical fire retardants added.
I decided back then that I would much rather have a baby crib mattress made out of foam or other materials than have coil springs. Foam has worked wonderfully for me over the years and I have bought foam mattresses for all of my children. Not having springs in your crib mattress makes them much easier to move around and clean due to being lighter weight.
So, when I received my Brentwood Home Baby Bundle consisting of the Poppy 2-stage crib mattress and the Sweet Pea changing pad, I was excited to try them out and see how they compared to mattresses I have used in the past.

The Poppy crib mattress is Brentwood’s most affordable crib mattress option but that doesn’t mean there is a sacrifice in quality. My first impression is that it seemed just as nice or nicer than any previous crib mattress I have purchased.
The Poppy mattress has a firm infant side and a bit softer toddler side. I did not personally find them much different but that’s a good thing because I like my children’s mattresses firm. It is healthy and safe, made with hypoallergenic, anti-static, anti-microbial materials and four inches of CertiPUR-US certified. It is the standard perfect crib size. The mattress is about 10 pounds so it’s easy to lift for middle of the night sheet changes. It also has a waterproof material covering it to protect the mattress and a fabric border. This mattress is free of any bad chemicals or fire retardants, but still exceeds federal flammability and CPSC standards.
I have been through several crib mattresses with my kids including returning one because it was not firm enough in my opinion. As I said above the Poppy mattress is as nice as any I have bought and the extra fabric barrier around the edges makes it feel luxurious to me. It does not make any loud or crinkling sounds, and there is no sagging or fit issues. I think this mattress is a wonderful option at a good price point. Brentwood Home does offer a few more expensive crib mattress options, you can check them out here but the Poppy meets all of my needs.
This is a standard size changing pad made out of non toxic materials and CertiPUR-US certified foam. It’s a nice lightweight shape and easy to clean. The best part to me is the cover. It features a modern and neutral pattern and is super soft. Of course the cover is easy to remove and wash when needed too.
My children were more than happy to model these products as you can see. In fact my son really wanted to keep the mattress as his own for his toddler bed.
